I felt a great need to study the life of Jesus in detail. He is our Model. Our Savior. As I heard in a sermon: to look at Jesus' life microscopically. Therefore, I am studying the book The Desire of Ages with the goal of learning Jesus' attitude regarding the education of His disciples. All 11 disciples He called Himself (Judas volunteered) were transformed and will be in heaven. Educating children is already difficult, but imagine re-educating adults?1. Wait for the right moment to offer patient admonition. (DA chap. 47 – Who Is the Greatest?)Two instances where Jesus waited to correct:– When the disciples were arguing on the way about who would be the greatest. (Have your children ever argued?) Jesus said nothing at that moment, but waited for their hearts to be open. When they arrived in Capernaum (at home) Mark 9:33,34 Jesus called their attention. “What were you discussing on the way?”– At the Last Supper (p. 643). On that last night together, Jesus saw that they could not bear what He had to tell them. Jesus perceived (knew) when the disciples were not ready for what He wished to communicate to them.2. Do not openly rebuke in front of guests. At the feast in Simon's house (p. 567 and Luke 7:36-50), Jesus did not openly rebuke Simon in front of the guests. A severe accusation would have hardened Simon against repentance, but patient admonition convinced him of his error.Chapter 26 – In Capernaum, there are many principles taught and lived by Jesus while on this earth.3. Do not get involved in existing dissensions. “Jesus had nothing to do with existing dissensions among the Jews. His work was to present the truth.” (p. 253)4. Make the truth beautiful, presenting it in a positive and simple way.5. Have a pure, refined, and clear language. Even though Jesus' teaching was simple, He spoke as one who has authority. His words could not be disputed (p. 254).6. Do not be blinded by earthly concerns, but see the things of this life as subordinate to those of eternal interest.7. Adapt messages to each child. “His messages of mercy varied to suit His audience.”8. Have a kind word and tact for the weary child. “For grace was poured upon His lips”9. Give illustrations drawn from daily life. Jesus drew many lessons from Nature, for that is what people were constantly seeing. When they looked at the birds, the lilies, the seed, the shepherd, and the sheep, the lessons Jesus taught people would be continually repeated to them.10. Do not flatter. “Christ never flattered men. He did not say what would exalt their fantasies and imaginations, nor did He praise them for clever inventions.” Let us remember that flattering is different from encouraging or appreciating. Definition of flatter: to make oneself vain with flattery; to make one feel or feel pride. “the tribute paid by colleagues flattered him” to praise with exaggeration, aiming to obtain favors, privileges, etc.; to adulate.11. Always possess beauty in countenance, kindness, love expressed in look and voice. All this attracted to Jesus all those who were hardened in unbelief. (p. 257)12. Always keep God's word in mind. It was by God's word that Christ overcame the evil one. (p. 259)13. Do not neglect communion with God in the morning, even if we go to bed late. “As long as the last sick person was not healed, Jesus did not cease to work. It was late at night when the crowd departed and silence fell upon Simon's home…but, while the city was still immersed in sleep, the Savior, rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, went out and went to a deserted place, and there He prayed” p. 260.14. Do not seek honors, admiration, or self-love. (The admiration of the crowd displeased His spirit. In His life, there was no room for self-love. The homage the world pays to position, wealth, or talent was a strange thing to the Son of Man.15. Do not use human methods to achieve obedience. “None of the processes employed by men to achieve obedience or impose respect were used by Jesus. p. 26116. Hide in God. “Christ was hidden in God, and God was revealed in the character of His Son.
